Why Aren’t We as Strategic with Success as We Are with Less Important Things?

So many people’s priorities are out of order. You would think that the thing most people want more than anything else is to be successful in all areas of their lives, so they’d allocate the most thought, time, and effort into success.

However, that’s far from the case. Constantly, people are putting in more thought into mundane everyday things than they have into how they’re going to be successful. For example, if someone were to have dinner plans, they’d be putting in a lot of thought and time, making sure they have an appropriate outfit that’s clean and ironed, that they know what they’re going to be eating off the menu, and maybe even have ideas for conversation topics and routes to get there.

Yet, if you were to ask these people about their plans for success, they might only have a very loose idea. Your plan for the career you want could determine what the rest of your life looks like, yet you might be choosing to just go with the flow following a loosely structured plan.

If you want to achieve success, you have to put in the effort not only for your daily activities, but also for your action plan. You need to be strategic about how you’re going to become successful, because it’s very rare that people just accidentally find success.

Take some time out of your day to plan a real path toward your goals. Write it down physically, so that you can always have a reference and so you’ll remember it better. Start off with very general stages, like searching for a job and fixing your relationships.

Then you can move into more specific parts of your plan, such as what job you want to work, what you’ll do for housing, how you’re going to achieve these steps, and so on. Understandably, this kind of planning is more difficult than planning an outfit or what you’re going to eat, but people still don’t show their plan for success enough attention or effort.

It’s going to take some time to get your plan down and structured well, but it’s going to be very much worth it. If you’re able to formulate a proper plan for success, then you’re going to be taking a lot of worries and stress off of your shoulders.

It’s hard trying to become successful when you’re not sure of what you’re supposed to be doing, so having a well thought out plan makes it that much easier. You can follow the step-by-step task list during more trying times where your focus might be strained.
