The Posture of Waiting – A Message to Parents of Prodigals

Learning to love like the Father who waits on the horizon.

There comes a moment in every parent’s journey when love must learn to trust more than it strives. When we release control, surrender outcomes, and simply wait in faith. This isn’t passive—it’s powerful. It’s the same posture Heaven takes toward every wandering heart.

To every parent who waits, prays, and wonders if the silence will ever end—this is for you.

There comes a time in every parent’s journey when love has to trust more than it tries. When words must yield to prayer, and when pursuit gives way to peace. This is the sacred place of waiting—not the waiting of despair, but the waiting of faith.

Waiting is not weakness. Waiting is worship. It’s what the Father did in the story of the prodigal son. He didn’t chase, control, or plead. He stood watch on the horizon, heart steady, eyes open, ready to run the moment his child appeared.

The posture of waiting is the posture of Heaven. It’s the place where hope refuses to die and love refuses to close its heart. It’s where you keep believing—even when years have passed and the road home seems long.

If your son or daughter is far from God, remember this:
You are not alone in the waiting. The Father knows your ache, because He waits too. He waits for His children every day—with mercy, not anger; with longing, not disappointment.

Your prayers are not lost in the wind. They are seeds in the soil of time. Heaven holds every tear, every whispered “bring them home,” every sleepless night of intercession. And when the moment comes—when the light breaks through—the same Spirit who has held you will awaken them.

So, keep your eyes on the horizon.
Keep your heart free of bitterness.
Keep your love open, unguarded, and ready to run.

The day will come when you see them from afar—and you’ll know it’s time.

And when that day comes, you will not meet them with accusation or proof. You will meet them with love. Because only a parent who has loved through the silence knows the miracle of reunion.

Let this be your prayer:

“Father, teach me to wait like You wait.
Teach me to love without condition, to forgive without measure,
and to hope without end.
Let my posture of waiting be a reflection of Your heart for the lost.”

Hold your ground, beloved parent. Heaven is working even when you cannot see it.
And one day, your waiting will turn into running.

If you’re a parent believing for the return of a son or daughter, take heart. You are not forgotten, and neither are they. Heaven sees. Heaven hears. Heaven is working.

Eric
